After a recent visit to Vila Viçosa (Alentejo), known for its marble, i returned to Lisbon thinking that it is very rare to see this stone used elegantly and with a contemporary design. A few days later, i discovered Retegui and was impressed by the magnificent collection of furniture and accessories in marble. Dating back to 1939, when Laurent Bergez opened a gravestone workshop in Saint Jean de Luz, Pyrenees Atlantiques, Retegui is now headed by his grandson Claude Retegui and the evolution since its foundation couldn't be more impressive.

Combining tradition and decades of experience with an innovative 3D technology to carve marble, Retegui developed techniques that decrease the thickness of the stone considerably, while maintaining its strength.

These processes allow combining the marble with composite materials, including aluminium honeycomb cores, glass or carbon fiber combinations. Designed by Jean Louis Iratzoki, the collection includes the Arin tables, that behind its simplicity and lightness hide a complex manufacturing process; the elegant Egala shelves, great for displaying objects , photographs and paintings; the Petra coffee table, sculpted from solid marble, a perfect illustration of raw material design; and Domo and Batela trays , perfect on any table!
