Quinta do Vallado

After crossing Peso da Régua bridge, the magnificent views of Quinta do Vallado were the sign of a perfect week beggining. Having arrived monday, the calm, the vineyards beauty and the exemplary integration between old and new were the first things that caught our eye. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado belongs to the descendents of the emblematic Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira for six generations and it's today one of the great examples of the best projects made in Portugal, in terms of wines, and rural tourism. Beside the brilliant project of the wineries and hotel, both by architect Francisco Vieira de Campos, the attention to details it's just perfect, from the use of local materials like schist, the views of the vineyards, the rooms comfort, the hotel decoration to the excellent riverside picnic, dinners served with the estate wines, the pool surrounded by orange trees... a must visit!
