The launch of the blog Uma Lisboa Ciclista, by my friend Artur Lourenço, was recently mentioned in O Editorial, but his beautiful photos of the last Tweed Run in London deserve a new reminder. Established in 2009, the Tweed Run is a "fabulously quirky event where participants don their finest tweeds and brogues and cycling through London, stopping along the way to take tea, have a picnic, and ending with an old fashion knees-up in the afternoon." In the 2014 edition, Artur Lourenço took his passion for bicycles to the streets of London and photographed many of the participants. Showing his fascination for this vintage style event, the photographs show the magnificent spirit and beautiful clothing details of the many cyclists in tweed. To view and review!
"The mood of this ride is really amazing and the people are extremely friendly and welcoming. Everyone dresses up and decorate their bikes accordingly. Everybody enters this bike ride spirit in a way that I didn’t think would be possible. From the youngest to the oldest, because the spirit has no age, everybody has a great time in a civic way with a contagious happiness. This ride, which I highly recommend to everybody who is able to participate, was one of the most amazing experiences of my life when bikes are concerned. I hope that these photos will inspire you to ride more often a bike, wherever you may be, that they will inspire Lisbon to pedal more and that better and improved cycling conditions will be created. I also hope that these photos will convey that t cycling, this wondrous adventure, has no boundaries, nor age and that we can use our bike in so many different ways, although in a style like this one it’s hard to resist," Artur Lourenço
