Prêt-à-Vélo

Founded by Ulrich Gries, professor, two wheels enthusiast and author of 'Berlin per Rad entdecken' book ('Discover Berlin on a bike'), Prêt-à-Vélo shop is one of the best places to find quality bicycles and accessories in Berlin. In this welcoming shop in the Mitte district we can discover everything to cycle in the city in great style, from Cooper and Pashley bikes, Brooks jackets and saddles, Yakkay helmets, Quoc Pahm shoes, books and Mikili bicycle supports. Ulrich Gries gave us some tips about Berlin and his favourite products: Favourite places to cycle in Berlin? The former Tempelhof airport, where in the old days airplanes took off, you can have a round trip by bike today. Another nice tour is from Mitte through the Tiergarten all along the river Spree and the Landwehrkanal to Schloss Charlottenburg.

And bikefriendly coffee shops? Here's the question, what is a really bikefriendly coffee shop? There are some messenger bike cafés like Keirin Berlin, but I prefer small cafés, where you sit on the terrace and park the bike before it, like the Café Fleury or with perfect coffee and style, The Barn (above).

Favourite bicycles and accessories? Achielle bicycles for ladies and Cooper or Pashley for men. We also like the Bookman lights very much and our vintage wine crates and a carrier on the bike.
