Osvaldo Borsani

I can't remember when i've seen for the first time P40 armchair or D70 sofa, designed by Osvaldo Borsani in the fifites, but it was love at first sight. Being adjustable into 468 different positions, P40 armchair epitomizes the post-war italian design, matching an extreme elegance, technical innovation and flexibility, adapted to the houses' lack of space at that time. In the same way,  D70 sofa with its visible lateral mechanism, quickly transforms into a bed, without losing the visual lightness. Despite still being manufactured by Tecno, founded in 1953 by Osvaldo Borsani and his twin brother Fulgenzio, a magnificent vintage set of two armchairs and sofa is on sale at 1stdibs. photos by MoMA and 1stdibs
